I've got lots of credit card debt. Looking for ways to ease the strain.
I'm trying to increase income and decrease debts at the same time.
I live in rural Pennsylvania in a log cabin on 10 acres. Big mortgage
to pay also.
That's all for now.
Welcome! Hopefully you'll be able to get some ideas on this board on how to ease those debts...
Dear JoyJunky,
Have you considered selling the log cabin and 10 acres of land and moving into something smaller and more managable for your financial situation?
Depending on the money you would get on your cabin and property, you could not only take care of that remaining mortgage, but also wipe out your credit card debt so that you could start afresh.
Just some thoughts for you. There is absolutely nothing like living debt free.

It may be possible for you to refinance that cabin to include the credit cards over a long time at a lower rate. May pay off for you.
You could also look at what you spend on for what you really need and what you dont need. Is it a want or a need ask yourself, cut down on wants, keep the needs.
Most people waste so much money its insane.

Glad you are around, I hope that you stay and we can figure out how to get things together for you .
Hi Joyjunky, Well that's the secret really. Reduce debt and increase cash in. I've read some interesting ways of reducing debt. But I think to help that along the extra income is a major factor. We are not talking about alot of money but enough to help slow down and then start reducing the debt. I guess my common answer to that is the internet. But I can say in my case it's been slow. But I tell my wife I have a 5 year plan of making this all work. In 5 years I'll be 62 and hope to retire early. We'll see how that goes.
Best of luck
Nick
