I tried to get my credit card interest rate lowered and despite my kind threats to transfer the balance to another card, they didn't budge.  Maybe most people don't go through with the threats.  But I immediately went on bankrate.com to search for a card that had no interest rate for at least a year.  I applied, transferred by balance and am doubling the minimum payment every month.  Yippee!
