So what would everyone here consider their most needless expense. Believe it or not, I found purchasing coffee to be an extremely needless expense that needed to be dropped

I'm a coffee lover MHJ. big_smile
For me the most needless expense is videogames. Probably could have got it cheaper from ebay.

In response to the two previous posts, I avoid higher priced coffee shops like StarBucks. If I'm buying a coffee while I'm out, I'll probably go for a less expensive one from Tim Horton's, which is a very good product, too. Even better, I'll often wait till I get home and make one there.

As for videogames, I play some online which don't cost me any more than the Internet access which I already have. There are some very good ones online. I've played Battleships, Tetris and my wife was hooked on Cake Mania.

Now that you mention Ebay I guess it would be fair to say that any expenditure on a new item makes little sense when the same item can be purchased used

If you like renting movies, you may be surprised at the selection in some libraries these days.

There are some pretty interesting ones at our local library, and not just on "stuffy" topics, either.

I consider needless expenses to be things that take you over your budget. I really don't buy things that are over my budget:D. Ok I'm lying, I  buy shoes. I am a shoe freak and  everytime I come across  a shoe, no matter what type it is or what price it is, I buy it .

Also, if you're going to buy DVDs, CDs or books then I'd suggest checking out used stores.

With digital technology, unless there's a serious scratch on the disks, they play as good as new. And I have no problem reading a used paperback.

Video games is my worst expense that I have. I buy a video once a week and they run around $50 a game.

My most needless expensive would be that cup of Circle K coffee every morning.  I used to drink the Starbucks, but can not afford it anymore, so I have a habit of cheap circle K coffee.  It is actually pretty good, because they have different flavor creamers, and sweetners

I guess my most needless expense is a couple of sodas a day from the vending machine at work. They're $1.25 a shot and I could bring my own for much less. In fact, a whole two liter bottle would be about the same price as a 20 ounce bottle from the vending machine!

I have bought lots of movies and DVDs from eBay. I love the place. I also sell on there from time to time.

The library is a good idea for reading books and checking out movies and music. I hardly want to buy a book and keep it anyway.

Good ideas here!
