So we got off budget a little bit this weekend...ok, a lot. This time however instead of just calling the budget blown, I'm re-budgeting accordingly and re-vowing to stay on track for the rest of the month.

I think I'll give up coffee for the rest of the month. We've been spending a lot on that recently.

I've also experienced a few similar setbacks.  I usually I scrap the budget and start over again as well, but I'm feeling inspired to keep up with it.  The goals for this budget are:

1) An experiment :Use one checking account for periodic expenses and spending, and another for rent and credit card payments.

2) Take one bill's balance down by more than half (It's a small one, but I'm trying out Dave Ramsey's "Debt Snowball")

I like the idea of seeing how I will have one bill paid off before October begins.  It's a teeny tiny bill, but It's a rung on the ladder that I can easily grasp.

3) Continue LEAVING MY MONEY AT HOME.  What's the point of bringing cash or debit cards if I have no perceived need for them?  I'm only taking them with me when I know I need to buy something.

Thanks for the inspiration to tighten the ol' belt again!  ...and good luck giving up coffee.  How much do you expect it will save you by moths' end?
