I waned to wait until later in the week to share this, but I just can't contain myself.  Thursday will be the 90th day that I will have gone without using any of my credit cards!  Three months without any charging or chash advances of any kind!  I've worked hard to use cash (not even a debit card!) and stick to a budget.  I haven't been so successful at sticking with the budget, but even mess-ups and splurges were paid for in cash.  It's not as big of a milestone as paying anything off, but it's just a good feeling to know that I don't need credit cards anymore.

Congrats,
You deserve a pat on the back. A written budget is very difficult. It takes time to get the numbers to behave. I have been doing this for 30 days its tough. It's a great place to start.

What a feeling no credit card usage. I screwed up I had about $4000 in unplanned costs all at once my emergency and other reseves went bye bye and hello visa. I got about 30 days to pull out of this one. I was not pleased. Keep up the great work.

Hooray for you! big_smile

I'm still not there yet, but I'm getting closer.  I actually had cash to pay the plumber this week, but still not enough to keep up with our medical expenses.  Sigh...

I am glad to say that I  laid my credit cards down two years ago and I haven't looked back. I only use my debit cards. When those nice ladies and gentlemen at the department stores offer me a line of credit, I politely smile and say no thank you. I also gladly throw away the offers for credit that come in the mail.

Maybe you should consider opting out. So you won't recieve the pre-approved offers.  Congrats on not using your credit cards!

Probably the wisest move I ever made was eliminating my credit card usage. All they did was pile more debt on what I already owed!

Whenever I use Microsoft money to keep track of my budget I discover that I end up saving far more money than when I try and figure it all in my head.
