Got questions about this rev-share thing? Thats good, 'cause we got answers.
Much of the revenue we earn here at Debt Management Talk comes from Google Adsense. When you browse through our conversations, you will likely see various ads that are being served by Google placed throughout the page (these ads will say "Ads by Google" near them).
When you become a member, you can start to share the revenue from these ads. If you already have a Google Adsense account, we will rotate in your Adsense publisher ID into the ads on the conversations that you start.
If you are not a member of Adsense, then we will guide you, step by step, in setting up an account with Adsense (it is completely free to join). Once you get your account with Adsense setup, we will then rotate your publisher ID into the ads on conversations you start.
Yes, this is OK with Google. As long as you have your own Adsense account, Google does not mind us rotating in your Adsense ID into ads on our pages.
If you don't have an Adsense account, we can help you get setup with one.
This depends on a lot of different factors. Here is how the revenue sharing breaks down:
- You will earn revenue on conversations that you start, and conversations started by people you refer to Debt Management Talk.
- On conversations you start, we will rotate in your Adsense ID up to 30% of the time (this is explained in a bit)
- If you refer others to Debt Management Talk, we will also rotate in your Adsense ID into the conversations they start. We will use your Adsense ID on these conversations up to 10% of the time.
A lot depends on what type of member you are. Unfortunately a system like this could encourage people to try and post just for money. Because our first goal is to create an environment in which people can learn, be encouraged, and help each other get out of debt, we have developed a system which rewards members who are 'good citizens'.
On conversations you start, we may use your Adsense ID up to 30% of the time (and up to 10% of the time on conversations started by people you refer). If, however, your history shows that you are not a good citizen, then we will not share our ads with you as much. People who are here to simply abuse the system will not receive any share of the ads.
By simply getting involved in conversations, offering quality responses, starting active conversations, and following the rules of the forum. We actually judge members on dozens of different criteria.
The best rule of thumb to follow is this: participate in the forums as if we were not sharing our revenue with you. If you approach the forums in this manner, then you will earn money with us.
As the forum grows, we are constantly refining how we measure members, so remember to act as if there is no money involved.
There is no doubt that Google Adsense pays some people a lot of money. But you certainly should not expect this forum to provide a living for you. The purpose of sharing our revenue with you is to provide you with some supplementary income.
Our goal (although certainly not our promise) is to provide all of our members with a few hundred extra dollars every month to help pay those pesky bills. People who participate as regular members and really do what they can to help out should be able to reach this income level within a few months.
To get started, first you have to become a member.
Once you are a member, you can then click on your "Profile" link and then click on "Revenue Sharing" to setup your account.
