I would like to see about refinancing my home, but don't know how.

There are a lot of issues involved here. Credit, type of mortgage etc.

A lot more than that. I think.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you want to refinance your home?

If it is to turn unsecured debt into secured debt, then make sure you won't run up any more unsecured debt afterwards, and make sure you will be able to meet the repayments on your mortage.  Are you sure you can't negotiate other repayment plans?

Secured debt is very serious - I'd seek professional advice.

The worst financial problem we have is healthcare costs.  The insurance premiums and copayments are killing us, but we can't take the chance on not having the insurance either.  It's usually the unexpected doctor's visits and prescriptions that send us over our monthly budget every month.

I'd say our worst problem is budgeting and spending money we don't have, and spending what money we do have on debt/savings.

That is hard. If hubby worked for someone else and we had insurance through them rather than private insurance we would save so much money each month.  I've had a cavity for over a year because I can't just fork over $400 to have it filled.

Health insurance is certainly a big issue these days.

Yes i want to turn my debt into secured debt. Adn I don't plan on bringing anymore into the picture once i refinance my home. Will this make my mortgage payments more?

Usually but not always, it depends on whether you will be refinancing at a lower interest rate (hubby's a mortgage broker).  You'll need the closing costs though.
