I can't believe it....about a year & a half ago, we moved our family from busy Milwaukee to a small town an hour north of Madison so that we could cut down on expenses.  We have always wanted to build (nothing extravagant--just our modest dream home!) adn we knew that this house we bought would be the financial step we needed to build the house we want.

Well.....last night we found our land.  The PERFECT piece of land...just far enough out of town to be close to everything but the noise.  The lot is perfect.  The price is fantastic.  The surroundings are ideal.

And there is NOTHING we can do to buy it right now.  We refuse to sacrifice our good credit just to make our debt disappear.  And there's no way we can take on the extra expense right now.  so frustrating...

Anyone else out there had to pass by on something they REALLY wanted, knowing it was for the best?  I'm not just talking about wanting Taco Bell and settling for leftovers in the frig (which I do all the time).  But really, REALLY pass up something good???  I need to know I'm not alone!

Hey amy,

You''ll probably find a list of people here who wanted something so bad and weren't able to have it. I personally wanted to go to one of the few universities i got into. except i didnt receive a full scholarship or enough financial help to be able to afford it. I knew i could take out a loan, but the interest rates, and i didnt want to go into my first year into school with debt. So i had to settle for a nearby community college (which is quite well known) but i feel cheated out of some experiences. Anyhoo, a year or two more to go before i can transfer. I'm doing odd jobs, and still looking for stuff like that so i have money for college.  I hope that makes you feel a teeny weeny bit better.

I look at this way. If it is meant to be it will happen. With no remorse, no ill feelings and things will fall into place just like a puzzle getting put together.

This last weekend, my fridge went out. I was thinking used/ Heck Im 35k in the hole. My wife wants new. I say lets look at used. I find one nice one $200 verses $1000 new. PIECE 1

My wife calls Im woking outside sales.. She calls me the fridge is availible other people will be looking at it later in the day. I was only 5 miles from the sellers house. The last time I was in this area was  2.5 months ago PIECE 2

The seller takes cash only>>> I usually only carry $40 at most, the fridge was $200 SO guess what I just happen to have $300 I had celebrated my birthday 5 days earlier. Piece 3

My parents said don't spend the money (present) on the debts spend on something for yourself  WHOLAH I have a refridgerator. Piece 4

Best of luck. Think about it. If  its meant to be it will. maybe there is something better bigger and cheaper out there.

My wife and I have been saving for a year and a half now to visit her family in Korea.  We had to put off a ceremony because she was still attending school and I hadn't been working long enough yet to build up savings for it.  Fortunately we are almost there thanks to some raises, being frugal, and driving our eleven year old cars (with only a couple tows and some minor maintenance required thus far).

Yup! There's a house I've been wanting for some time now. A block from our Church, the library, and a park. And walking distance from a grocery store. It's an older home with wood throughout the house on beautiful corner lot with a huge yard, a beautiful wooden fence, two car garage and a work shed (that is really nice). BUT we can't move AT ALL. We are in this house until we are out of debt and the market picks up again.

sad

The price keeps plunging too, so frustrating. BUT, had we been patient before and not acquired debt, we could be living in that house right now.

Amy,

Because You have a scripture in your signature line, I'm going to giveyou this piece of advice which helps me:
What God has for you, is for you! If this is the land he intends for you to have, you will receive it one way or another. Wether it is that it sits there until you are ready, or if someone else buys it, and does nothing with it, and then sells it when you happen to be ready to buy it. Remember if it is yours, you will receive the blessing. Just be faithful, and let your desires be known to God. one thing that has happened for us, is that everytime we have needed God to increase my hubby's salary to make ends meet, it has increased by the exact amount we needed it to (about 30k in the last year and a half, which replaced my salary when I became a SAHM).

Christine

This has helped.  Thank you, all!  Maybe misery loves company...or frustration just doesn't like to be alone!  But, pieces will fall into place when they need to and you're right...if God wants us to have THAT land, it just won't be sold!  Or at least, He'll provide!

In the meantime, I'll focus on taking my kids to the county fair tonight and just be happy with that---because we saved for it and don't have to use credit!

BEAUTIFUL!  Enjoy yourselves thoroughly!

Ouch!

Don't worry!  Other (probably better) options will come up . . . even if it doesn't seem like it now! (-;

AND CONGRATULATIONS!!! On keeping your priorities straight . . . LOL I would totally be trying to finaggle a weigh to getting what I wanted (even if it hurt me in the long run!)

Best of luck!
