When I read Dave Ramsey's money makeover book, one thing that stuck was the lady who sold 150 gold fish out of her pond for $1 each to get her emergency fund started . . .
I have wondered what kind of a dent I could make in my financial problem by clearing out my clutter . . . (-: So I've decided to take the next week and sell as much of my stuff as I can on ebay, craigslist, and around town . . . and as my name implies, I have a loth of clutter! ![]()
Anyone want to join me? Friday to Friday?
OR
Do any of you have stories about what you've actually sold/ how much/ where to etc?
Have a great day!
lol, thats a great idea, end of summer cleaning out sale. This way we can rid out house of quite a bit (I'm still attached to some stuff) and make some extra money. I'm thinking of putting hair bands i make for self on sale on a website. Lets keep track of the progress. Report back on what you sold, and how much you made off the listings. Good luck!
I'm with you! I have so much junk! I love the stories from the book. We are having another yard sale on Saturday. We have had one the last 2 weeks. We want to clear out the junk and build our savings and pay off debt, plus I can not walk in my basement! I plan to sell a bunch of stuff on ebay and craigslist too. Ebay has no listing fees for the month of Sept. I say we make it a month long challenge. How much can we make in the next month to buld our emergency funds by simply selling off our unneeded junk and clutter. I think we could do well! I'm in!

Okay! Sounds even better . . .A MONTH LONG SELL YOUR STUFF CHALLENGE!
I can't wait to see how we do!
Challenge accepted!
:DOkay . . . so how is everyone doing?
Here are my not so impressive totals . . . (but money is money . . . he he;))
DVD via EBAY $12.00
Dress via EBAY $16.00
Books via local store $32.00
Total: $60
I'm anticipating more though . . . my roomie wants to travel but is flat broke . . . so she is selling my stuff for 50% net to get some funds! I know I'll lose half the profit, BUT I don't have as much time as she does . . . and it is SO amazing to be able to walk into my 'walk in closet'![]()
My update
Psych book through half.ebay.com 18.00
Cell phone (old one) through ebay $12
Total $30.
Hoping to make more
Hey! This is a great idea. When my wife and I moved, we sold a bunch of stuff (junk, really) we didn't need on Craigslist, and made about $150 in the process. We haven't missed any of it. Currently, we've got a storage shed that's costing us about $100 per month to keep junk in (she calls it stuff
). We'd be better off clearing it out and selling it, like you guys.
This weekend I sold two pairs of (barely) used running shoes and made an extra $90! Go craigslist!
